Viška pogača (Instagram – hejdivukosa)

CroatiaWeek reports that  Viška pogača, or pogača from the island of Vis, is a type of baked bread pie, similar to focaccia filled with anchovies or salty fish, onions and depending on which part of the island, tomatoes. They also provide a recipe.

This local speciality is often offered as a starter by many of the restaurants on Vis but it can be stodgy and will invariably leave little room for a delicious main course to follow. It’s good for a lunchtime snack though.
